The LaGrange Fire District
The Fire Police
In the initial stages of an emergency, as the first responders start to arrive in their personal vehicles and emergency apparatus starts to converge on the scene, it will be the fire police that you see standing in this flow of vehicles, directing traffic and keeping things flowing smoothly. Then, as the fire and EMS personnel begin to operate at the emergency scene, it is the efforts of the fire police to control the crowds and the traffic that allows the emergency personnel to concentrate more on the tasks at hand and worry less about the on-coming traffic and the growing crowd. There are times when it can be a thankless job, with disgruntled motorists complaining about being detoured and, more often than not, being kept out of the limelight by their work, but they still do it, and for this reason they are counted among LaGrange's bravest.
